Bluetooth is the name given to an international open standard for short range wireless data transmission. Because Bluetooth is an internationally accepted standard, any product which is stated as Bluetooth compatible should be able to communicate (transfer data) with any other Bluetooth device.
The most common application for Bluetooth so far is in mobile phone headsets for cellphone hands-free operation or for in-car phone systems (car kits).
Using Wireless Bluetooth With Your Mobile Phone
- Use a headset / earpiece to speak on your mobile. The handset is in your pocket or bag, and needs no cables to connect to the microphone/ speakers. Many people find the audio quality of hands-free kits to be much better, and it also alleviates any health concerns about microwave transmissions from the cellphone.
- Use your mobile phone in your car without holding the handset. Safer and cooler.
